Michael King (1945-2004) was one of New Zealand’s best known historian and biographer and was name in 2006 as one of 100 most important New Zealanders that have ever lived. While he published more than 34 books, his most famous was the The Penguin History of New Zealand which was the most popular book in New Zealand in 2004. Tragically, he was killed in a car accident, robbing New Zealand of one of its most famous author at the height of his powers.
